Pagan coinage of the great persecution of christians under the Augustus of the east.
Ae quarter follis 14mm x 1.00gm. Issued 310-12 AD.
Ob: Tyche of Antioch, turreted and veiled, seated upon the mountains Staurinus and Silpius, her left hand upon stalks of wheat, Orontes swimming in front of her.
This is a depiction of Tyche of Antioch statue by Eutychides, circa 300 BC.
GENIO AN-TIOCHENI.
Rev: Apollo standing left holding patera and lyre, S in right field (6th Officina).
APOLLONI-SANCTO. Mintmark SMA. This depicts the Apollo of Daphne statue by Bryaxis from the late 300's BC.
