Default 1889 Dance Card

In 1889 the Queen gave her permission for the Battle Honour Mysore to be awarded to the 2nd Battaion Black Watch.
To quote The Highland Furies by Victoria Schofield ISBN 978-1-84916-550-1,
" In the same year on May 22nd in front of a huge crowd new colours were presented by the Queens grandson Prince Albert Victor of Wales accompanied by his brother the future George V. The colours were the first to carry the titles The Black Watch Royal Highlanders."

On the 30th a ball was held to mark the occasion and each man presented with a dance card. The front of which porrays the old colours carried since 1862, verso with the new ones bearing the Mysore honour. The cards were printed by Marcus Ward & Co Belfast and illustrated by the artist Walter Crane. Attached to the card a marker pencil complete with bone suspension finial by William Rodman & Co Belfast frame makers engravers and die-sinkers.
