I have seen these before (they were still current when I started collecting!) and never discovered exactly why this particular variation had blades rather than lugs. I just assumed Armoured Corps or Scottish regiments.
A scarce pre-war Australian Instructional Corps set exists in WM, which I was told was worn in Scottish regiments
The three main post-war AMF makers were Amor, Stokes and Luke (both KC and QC) but I never completed sets by all three makers in gilt, WM and oxidised. Most oxidised AMF rising suns were Amor which I was told were worn by recruits in training before being assigned to their unit.
Nor sure if there was ever a Stokes set in WM but definitely Luke and Amor.
