The pre-1908 I.Y. version of the Staffs IY badge was the plain knot in WM without a crown i.e. the same badge worn by volunteer infantry battalions of the South Staffordshire Regiment on the colla. Therefore the use of the QVC on their T.Y. badge was a choice made in 1908 (KC-era) rather than a case of existing stock.
Similarly the Oxfordshire Hussars also chose to wear the QVC and several different manufacturer variations of this are found so again it’s not a case of old stock being used up.
