A request if I may; does anybody have any Essex Regiment cap badge with maker marked sliders please, also any maker marked OR style pattern OSD?
Reason for the request is that for a few months now I have been putting together a list of dies and where possible known makers for this particular badge.
Of those produced pre anodised, at present I have identified in excess of 2 dozen dies for The Regular Battalions; a dozen or so for The Territorials and 5 Economy.
Three Maker marks only so far are Lambourne, Smith and Wright and Narborough.
Anodised 2makers only, Dowler and Firmin.
Theatre made, 3 unknown and 2 by firms, one Kharanjee, the other Bhari Bros.
Albeit, it appears that there were a number of dies used to produce an enormous number of badges to the Regiment, it may also have some bearing on, or similarity to the topic that JT alludes to
here.
When I've tidied up the research and put it together, I will add a post on The Forum for anyone who is interested.
