Default London Electrical Engineers

These photos, copied from originals in the Institution of Electrical Engineers nearly 40 years ago, show some detail of this Volunteer Unit formed in London in 1896.

The first one shows the unit at camp at Weymouth in 1905 dressed in what must be working uniform complete with naval-style caps and "Electrical Engineers RE" cap ribbons.

The second image taken the previous year on the Isle of Wight shows the searchlight arm badge and the Volunteer Special Service Sections arm badge. In the Pimlico Register in September 1902 it describes two version- drab for SD and scarlet cloth for tunics and frocks. An image of the scarlet version is attached but I have never seen a drab version.

Has anyone got a drab example - or a cap ribbon they would be willing to share?

Jon
