The crown above the torpedo badge was listed as an instructor in the collection that I got it from.
My thoughts on the the crossed flags, star and L badge is that it was an early pattern signaler for a landing craft or a signalman/wireman. Still a mystery. Both maybe Canadian?
Upon closer look, the crossed torpedo badge in gold has had the crown stitched over a star, so someone was trying to make a version of a torpedo badge. Once the crown was removed it revealed a very nice Leading Wireman 1940-1947.
Luckily the other 100 odd trade badges I have just got are a little easier to identify.
