Orders for Australian Imperial Force 1915, para 48(i). (officers and WOs)
Badge, copper, small (for collar and SD cap)....3

Orders for Australian Imperial Force 1915, para 62. (NCOs and men)
Badges, copper, small (for collar and FS cap)...Two on collar of jacket SD and one on cap FS or SD

Standing Orders Australian Imperial Force 1940, para 210.
Badges - Collar, Commonwealth, CO (copper oxidised) ....2 (3 for personnel issued with Caps SD). Chaplains excepted.

The small badge on the cap was the authorised standard. Large badges on the cap are the anomaly.
