The cherry examples are quite remarkable of high-quality embroidered patches with cotton backing, made for officers. They were clearly made following AB Corps HQ directives in early 1944. They are usually associated with the embroidered Airborne strip with serif lettering and could have been proposed as a private purchase full set.
By mid-1944, it was decided that the Airborne strips were no longer required. One can surmised this was a short-lived set. I would be curious to know if anyone knows the name of the manufacturer involved.
These are certainly not common on the market.

sadly I don't have serif airborne strips, though I do have two embroidered examples, san serifs.
