Mannequins in museums
Be very careful of using what you see in museums as being the truth. In the pictures posted earlier in this thread there are some pictures of shoulder flashes and mannequins. If you look closely, one of the mannequins portraying a WW2 officer is actually wearing a post war 49 pattern battledress, so none of what has been put together is legit for the period it is supposed to be.
Quite often the original item is not available so museums will "create" an artifact for the purpose of their display. 99% of the poeple seeing the display won't know or care.....
