Cape Stiffener and 3/5 Grain measurer
A couple of random bits I've held on to.
The top item is some form of fibreboard/heavy duty cardboard, labelled "Cape Stiffener", and measures 27.8 x 3cm, and is about 1.5mm thick. As I recall I found it at my last posting in the RAF.
Many years ago whilst working in a museum I salvaged the brass strip from a broken box in a pile of rubbish. It is stamped with the crow's foot and MAW London, the top is marked "3 Grain" and graduated 1, 6, 12, 18, 24, & 30; the bottom reads "5 Grain" and graduated 1, 6, 12, 18, & 24. It is 19.8 x 1.1cm, and 1mm thick.
Any ideas regarding the purposes of either?
