I notice that many badges persist in COSAs/JSPs long after they have been abandoned.
The Royal Regiment of Wales Officers' silver/electrogilt metal badge (NSN 8455-99-138-3008) is a good example. This appears as late as JSP 2005 long after it was replaced (in the late 80s I think) by the silver wire embroidered PoW feathers on the Officer's forage cap.

Hi Peter,
The modern 'New Metal' Royal Regiment of Wales officer cap badge (as you say) is 8455-99-138-3008 pattern No. 21258 being first sealed on 29th Dec 1975 and later resealed in 'New Metal' on 1st Aug 1994. It was deleted from inventory on 12th Aug 2009.
Mind you, if it was actually worn I have no idea as this sort of
official info is very difficult to find.
Some images of the badge attached. Note the modern Firmin lugs, maker marks 'FIRMIN' and 'F&S' x2 to rear.
Regards,
Chris
