I'm afraid to tell you that your tropical one is a repro. A number of these have started to appear on ebay in the last few years. There are several giveaways. For a start the original printed badges (both blue and tan) should have a dashed outline to them, showing where they should be cut. The repro's have a solid red line (Im not aware of any printed badge having anything other than a dashed line).

One appeared on ebay with a 1940 date and Indian tailor stamp. A sure-fire sign the seller (or someone) shot himself in the foot, as the badge was not authorised until early 1943!! Some other repros of the same type, plus an original...
