Oh dear....mustn't post late at night...
Of course, there is the white/ blue 1915 badge so this is just another colour choice. Looks like opaque turquoise but still a nice variant.
I think that there was/ is a long forgotten code to these badges whether they be plated, enamel filled in incuse lettering or use different colours.
Shame we can't ask the old fellers...
