Default Second Battalion

On the 1st April 1964 the Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment was formed at Terandak Barracks, where they had been since the end of the Emergency.The new motto adopted was Onward however the motto of the NZ Regiment-Kura Takahi Puni (We are ready) is continued today with 2/1 Battalion Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment. (2/1 RNZIR was renamed in 1973, from the 2nd Battalion NZ Regiment which had became based in Burnham christchurch in order to train replacements for the battalion in Malaya. The 1st Battalion Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment remained in SE Asia until 1989.
