Two examples of the same coin struck with completly different dies.
Gordian 111 238-244 AD. Hadrianopolis (Edirne)
Ae 25 x 29 12.7gm and Ae 27 x 10.6 gm.
Ob: Laurate draped bust right. AYT KMA GORDIANOC AVG
Rev: Zeus seated holding patera in left and sceptre in right hand, eagle at foot left. ADPIANOPOELITON,
The second coin with centering device used to smooth down rough cast planchets before striking.
