When anodised aluminium badges first came in,the powers that be were going to use clutch pins rather than lugs.
As we have already discussed a/a wasnt loved and the pins are rather fragile. They will have had queues outside the QMs asking for replacements . The change to lugs would have been rather quick. I have paperwork suggesting that the buttons ended up ruined through the use of brasso on them and that brass buttons should be reinstated.
