Hi Guys

As far as Im concerned its very difficult to date any of the General Service buttons, they could be WW 1 or 2, As far as Im concerned the one to look out for has the lines for the states but has no dividing line to separate the Northern Territory from South Australia, ie the South Australian area runs the whole length from the South to North coast of the Central part of Australia.

There were many manufacturers and many issues. The shape of the map changes, there are states and no states.

In the post WW2 period the buttons became shiny gold colour then Queens crown.

So the best that I can say is Kings Crown so from 1911 after the coronation of King George V, Edward V11 buttons had an ER V11 cypher, and up to about 1948 / 50.

Regards

Phil.
