Have to agree with you, if this was the property of an ex Guardsman it would surely be stamped with his Name, Rank and Number unless of course he decided to acquire a souvenir of his Service from the Stores.
Not saying this is anything to go by
but I personally have never seen a Coldstream Bed Plate of that construction either.
