Sorry, I am unable to answer your question regarding whether or not the CWM still buys artifacts.

However, I did find the PDF file linked very interesting.

According to the article, no maroon airborne berets were produced in Canada in 1944. However, I have one in my collection (Dorothea Hats Ltd. Toronto, 1944) that belonged to my wife's grandfather.

PS - Note the Perth Regiment badge - he served with the FSSF and was then assigned to the Perths after the FSSF disbanded. This was likely part of his coming home uniform. His wife (a war bride from Delfzijl) does not recall him wearing the maroon cap during the war, but we do have a picture of him wearing the cap on the date of his arrival back in Canada in early 1946.
