A universal grenade badge, worn on headdress, collars and shoulders by different units. Authorised as Pattern Number No. 9281 by Horse Guards letter of 21st May 1872 as "Not Special Grenade”, and at least worn until 2004 in A/A by the Royal Welch fusiliers, making it one of the longest continually used badges.
Worn by the Royal Artillery OR's as collar badge 1880-1914 1924-1926 and as cap badge 1890-1902.
Is it still in use today?

Rgds, Thomas.
