From the little I have seen of Home Fires the story lines seem to be a load of --- but I do have an interest in the location where it was filmed. A relative was almost certainly a pupil at Aldersey Grammar School at Bunbury in the 1880`s.

Bunbury ,which is not far from here, is where the village scenes are filmed.

A lot of the open countryside shots were filmed on the Cholmondeley Estate ( also fairly close by ), but the interesting thing is that Czech soldiers were housed on the Cholmondeley Estate during WW2 and in fact it is only in the last few years that the annual reunions ended when most of the Czech soldiers who had been in Cheshire in the war had passed on.

I see the series is based on a book and I do wonder if the basic story behind the book was based on the authors personal experiences.
