A really nice item. Irrespective of date, it hails from the era when fretwork was almost the "tik tok" of its age.
There is a great older book (1970s?) called, I think,
"Popular Arts of the First World War" which covers trench art, etc.
Fretwork gets a look in and there is a great illustration of a plane shooting down a "Zep"!
Oh, and the writer has an excellent sense of humour...
