Regarding your second badge with the very prominent die flaw, I do remember Forum Member, Malcolm Davey posting a photo of the badge with the same die flaw many, many years ago. I'm sure the 9th Bn thread can still be found. So probably genuine, but perhaps not an ideal representative example.
