Hi Jim, Yes you are quite right re the Ontario Mounted Rifles. Many collectors do not know about the difference.
It is interesting to follow the evolution of badges through time. The amalgamations and redesignations create new badges which often incorporate elements from earlier units. The Royal Canadian Hussars is example that comes to mind, combining design elements from the 17 Hussars and the 6th Hussars.
