I did wonder if it were a dark circle representing brigade or battalion, with a rectangle of company colour below but I think all the Scottish Rifles battalions wore various shapes of Douglas tartan.

Yes, it looks like the bombers grenade but that was worn upper right arm.
I may be imagining crossed rifles below the grenade, thinking of the rifle grenadier's grenade over crossed rifles badge which was worn lower left arm.
