The earliest non official badges to be worn by reinforcements was by members of the NZ Legion of Frontiersmen who went into camp with the 2nd Reinforcements.
The following picture is of is a member of the 6th Reinforcements taken in Wellington on the 22nd July 1915, he is wearing a Frontiersmen hat badge and Frontiersmen membership badge on the right-hand pocket flap of his uniform.
