Mick and Members of the forum,

I would humbly like to apologise for my initial reply to Micks's initial post.

On further research and a preponderance of evidence from more learned members, my statement on whether the 11th Hussars Officers wore a badge on their beret is on the whole incorrect. The badge was worn by those 11th Hussars attached to the Royal Armoured Corps Training Regiments as they were required to wear the badge on the beret. As a general rule the badge was not worn as stated by others as the beret was sufficiently recognisable without further embellishment.

I do recall seeing one with a bullion badge in a published book on militaria. This may have been a tailors sample or a suggestion for future implementation post war, possibly in the 1950's.

I, in haste made an incorrect assumption that the same goes for all. Please accept my apology, I stand corrected.

Regards,
Clay
