Default 7th Duke of Edinburgh's Own Gurkha Rifles

Earlier two part badge, this one in silver, square lugs considered essential on this badge I am informed. (although I am sure this square lugs business only applies to a specific period ? - someone with a bit more experience of this badge may be able to enlighten us)

below: the later design - single piece in white-metal (post 1959/60??). with Duke of Edinburgh's coronet and cypher added. kk2082

Two regular battalions of the 7th in WW2 and two war raised. (3rd and 4th.) 2nd battalion went in the bag at the fall of Tobruk (then reformed), 1st battalion spent the war in the Burma jungle fighting the japs

Title was plain old "7th Gurkha Rifles" up to 1959 when the title changed to that in the thread heading.

final demise like the rest of them 1994.
