Hi BC,
The top pair of Sgt chevrons look like the Great War pattern initially for the great coat but then seen worn on the SD jacket.
The bottom pair were worn I suspect on the KD jacket. I don't think there is anything specific about the size of the crowns I think they were what were available in the stores or at the tailor.
