Yes he would.

I would point out that as a Regular officer he would have worn normal RSIGNALS insignia for the majority of his career and would have only worn the 32 Sig Regt beret with tartan flash when he was CO.

Until the rules on the wearing of badges were enforced, the RSIGNALS did have the practice of former COs continuing to wear their regimental patches of the regiment that they had commanded for the remainder of their career. This was very much confined to patches and stable belts and not headgear. This all changed in 2015 when the GS TRF was introduced and the GS officers all had to conform.

I take the point about Remembrance day but's unusual for retired officers to wear former headgear - even on Remembrance Day as the practice is very much an ex-rankers thing.

Without solid provenance all you have is a modern hat that someone has written in with a biro.

At least it is a private purchase officer's hat rather then the cheap looking ORs' ones. Where the auction?
