I have a couple of Chrome RAF Sweethearts and they do look good.
I mentioned silver because as time went on many jewellers who worked in silver and gold took advantage of metals such as Chrome because they do not tarnish. The FWC mark that the son registered would only be used on silver items. On the later post 1918 items through to WW2, it is probable that the business expanded and hence the addition of ā& Sā on a maker stamp so as not to confuse with the registered silver mark. A strong possibility but could be completely wrong of course.
Cheers
James
