Definitely JACK..... in cursive writing, which is not taught in Ontario any more, the English school children were always taught to finish off the “a” at the bottom of the letter before starting the next letter,(in this case the “c”). If it was to be an “o” as in Joel, one would finish the “o” at the top of the letter, then go into the “e” where the horizontal line is on the printed lower case version is shown. The foregoing of course does not apply to Officers or Doctors!
