Hello Phil, welcome to the forum, as Bill has said the vast majority of British other ranks (OR’s) cap badges had sliders/ shanks but still quite a few had loops fixed via a cotter pin, of course there were Officers badges in the main we’re fixed via blades in the Officers Service Dress cap
