David, Nice badges. The 1st, 3rd and 4th are capbadges the 2nd is a collar. Nothing dodgy as far as I can see. The easiest way to see if an RHA Cypher is Issued or Private purchase is the garter belt end. I've used 2 of your pics for ease of example. On issued badges the belt end is tucked away under the garter. Non crown makers are not allowed to use this Royal Garter and so the belt end is looped over the garter.
