I'd suggest, subject to confirmation of the dimensions of this badge, that from its style/design & quality it is most likely a 12th Lancer Arm Badge. The Regt. wore Embroidered Arm Badges as early as 1834 I believe, although I'm not suggesting yours is that old.

It is quite hard to date, I'd suggest yours could be pre or post WWII, they were worn on Blue Patrols between the wars and on No.1 Dress 1950-1960.

Its also known that the wear of some 12L Emb. Arm Badges was carried over on amalgamation to the 9/12L, along with their White-metal ones.
There is quite a lot written about this in both L&D's and Seaman's books on Arm Badges.
