With 2 photos of a chap who was certainly in 5th Cyclist Bttn from 1908, it's clear not all badges were blackened. I wonder if this happened in the War? The larger Sgts group is attached. I suspect these are not all 5th. I suppose the images may be prior to 1908 and he could have been in the VB still?
