In 1979 I picked up a couple of gold anod RM officers dog in a baskets from 40 Commando stores in Shackleton Barracks, Ballykelly, the Colour Sergeant told me that they were worn in the forage cap and sometimes the beret and that the version with the pin was being replaced by the version with the screw post.

I got one or two of each, I think the pins were 45p, the screw posts 73p.

He said that some officers wore the Other Ranks gold anod al collar badge as the globe and laurel part of the cap badge instead of the correct officer's gold and silver colour collar badge / part of the cap badge as they were cheaper to buy.
