Doesnt look right for a belt plate badge. Usually the short stubby 'rectangular lugs' (there are 2 versions in the anodised badge being North &South and East & west).
Could these be for despatch pouch (prussian box) or whatever the correct term is, for No.1 dress or bandsmen etc?
Couldnt be worn on a beret, surely?
