Closure of Malta Base Token
A very scarce item.
Token commemorating the closure of the British Military Base on Malta, 31st March 1979, otherwise officially known as Freedom Day. One side depicts the flag lowering/raising ceremony on the Freedom Monument. I recall the moment, 40 years ago, signifying the end of an era. This scene also featured on stamp set.
