Byzantine Coinage.
Anastasius 1 Dicorus (two pupils) 491-518 AD.
Small module follis on the right introduced 498, large on the left introduced in 512 AD. Both had the same value 40 nummi = 1 follis = M.
Large=35mm 17.5gm, Small 22mm 7.8gm.
Ob: Diademed & curiassed bust right wearing paludamentum. AD DN ANASTASTIVS PP AV.
Rev: Large M stars either side cross above gamma below CON in exurge.
These coins were widely distributed from Morroco to China.
