I don't know whether this is regarded as a difference by Ray Westlake in his book. I certainly compare badges and titles for typefaces.

You make a very interesting point, and something I also noticed (hence my acknowledgement in the opening post about them not quite being a matching pair
).
Initially I though that these might perhaps be adapted from RE or RFA titles (RFA might be too large), but I now realise that they are genuine RF examples, so your observations regarding the different typefaces is certainly worth exploring further, in my opinion.
Could we perhaps put the disparity down to the old 'maker variation' chestnut?
