One final thought. On Apr 1st 1945, The Perth Regiment was authorized to become a Scottish Unit. The unit had been affiliated with the Cameronians since the 1930s, hence the use of the Douglas tartan. Prior to the adoption of Scottish dress, the regiment wore their cap badge on a beret or service dress cap.
