Quite possible that the eights were made in UK being blackened brass and with the hex type lugs. The ones look ok to me.

Took a while for the orders regarding abolition of corps letters and unit numerals to be effected, they never really ceased so not unreasonable to suppose that orders were placed in UK at various times. Lots of blokes found their way to UK via wounded at Gallipoli before the main body of the AIF started moving into Europe. There was also 8 and 9 Coys AASC, and the siege brigade there early.
