The crown is a naval crown and the anchor is off a Merchant Navy Officers badge with the bar at the top of the anchor tilted, was your Gt Grandfather an officer in the Merchant Navy ?

The Naval Crown (Latin: corona navalis) was a gold crown surmounted with small replicas of the prows of ships. It was a Roman military award, given to the first man who boarded an enemy ship during a naval engagement. It is used on all RN Crests and is widely seen around the world.
