I think that's a good shout. VRT collar badges were worn by officers of the Volunteer Reserve (Training) wing, who, for the most part were Air Training Corps officers. AEF Squadrons are "Air Experience Flying" Squadrons whose purpose is to provide flying experience to members of the ATC and CCF (RAF Sections).

There are quite a number of more "senior" (age wise) officers retained on the AEF Squadrons. I met one chap at the AEF Squadron at RAF Linton On Ouse a couple of years ago who was in his 70s but still providing flying training.
