Nice to see the "printed word" on this! So often we find ourselves faced with a "what the heck is this?" badge. I've just possibly IDed a badge from our local newspaper archive based on a report that hinted at its genesis but didn't ACTUALLY give a description of it!
On the other hand, I found an article that contained a VERY detailed description of yet another badge leaving no doubt whatsoever and giving a lot of detail on the organisation that it represented.
I guess that "news" in those days was a much broader canvas.....
