Thumbs up

Spotted this pair of badges , checked the backs and decided they were worth getting.

1. Large badge - A.Harris Ltd. Glasgow .

This company appear to have been the only manufacturer of BL badges in Scotland , there does not appear to have been any "British Legion Scotland" membership badges produced by any of the manufacturers . The first specific membership badges were RBL Scotland ones in 1972.

NB. This is one of the wrong Regd.Design number badges.

2. Miniature badge - Standard miniature , made by Birmingham Medal & Badge Co. Ltd.

What is unusual is that the makers name/address is stamped on the button hole fitting (normally raised letters on badge itself).

The badge appear to date from the WW2 period :

Quote:
Birmingham Medal Co.

In 1939 changed name to Birmingham Medal & Badge Co., and in 1940 moved to 29/30 Albion Street.
NB. In 1946 , with the change in size/style of BL/BLWS badges , the contract was given back to Gaunt.
