Hello Rob

I'm sure your are right about the other ranks aspect.

My original information said military outfitters and tailors (rather than button makers) but I suspect the emphasis was on outfitters rather than bespoke tailors!

I found a reference to a 1924 advert for them as "manufacturer of military accoutrements, uniforms, oilskin & india rubber goods, tarpaulins, tent, saddlery, horse clothing, outfitting etc. wholesale & export merchants and general warehousemen, government contractors".

Not exactly Hawkes & Co of Savile Row!
