Has it been painted black? I have have looked at yours in Paintshop and the back of the Motto tells me that its an early 1970s AA, the one that has the B'HAM mark on the slider and the Gaunt London mark on the scroll. So this must have been an in Regiment "painted" AA.... rather than a factory made black finished AA.
Griff, you could be right and I am not sure abt this one, but it definitely is not staybright underneath the black surface. Am not at home right now, so unable to provide a better image.
The slider is also missing, so it is not really a great AA badge.
